My DBF (dear boyfriend) is “color confused.” He cannot tell the difference between certain shades of gray and brown, and swears up and down that some grays are in fact brown.

Now, this wouldn’t be a big deal, except for the fact that he INSISTS on wearing this mismatched outfit from time to time, which, to be honest, annoys the living crap out of me. The reasons being: 1) I’ve told him that it doesn’t match (he insists that it does). 2) He has a million other shirts that would match. Literally. He has not one, but TWO closets full of t-shirts. He is quite the t-shirt collecting fiend. 3) He refuses to change simply because I’ve asked him to. (He tells me to find other, more important matters to worry about. Well, this is one of my pet peeves, and to my OCD-self, matching & looking presentable is important!!)

Just two days ago he refused to change after I politely (and then not so politely) asked him not to wear it.  I then sort of had a freak attack. Apparently my mental state is directly correlated with how well Tony matches. Of course, the more I insisted HE TAKE THAT SHIRT OFF RIGHT NOW, the more he refused. (Boy are we both extremely stubborn).

So I thought I’d bring the matter to the blog and lay it to rest.

Please, dear readers, chime in here.

Tell Tony that THIS SHIRT (which is BROWN)

Does not match THESE SHORTS (which are GRAY)

And that the two should never be worn together EVER AGAIN. Especially in public.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
An Annoyed OCD Girlfriend

Okay, so Heather insisted I view her latest and greatest entry. She didn’t tell me anything about it, except that she wanted me to read it and comment on it.

Now I don’t consider myself a trend setter and my choice of clothing is definately not anything that is going to turn heads… However I MUST comment on this to save Tony future embarressment.

The shirt and shorts combo does not match. Not because of the style… that is fine. You can’t really go wrong with a t-shirt and shorts. The problem is that the shirt is brown and the shorts have no brown in them at all. Because they are plaid shorts, this is EXTREMELY important. The top must be the same color as at least one of those little stripes…

I have had a boyfriend who is color-ly challenged and we would argue colors until we were both blue in the face so I know where Heather is coming from. Even if your DBF is not completely color blind, he does have at least ‘some’ difficultly differentiating between colors. This is okay and he must come to accept it.

The safest shirt color that I would suggest be paired with these plaid shorts is white, and that is a color we can ALL agree on.

    :)

OMG thats hilarious. Tony is very stubborn… may not be worth the fight.

After 51 years of living with someone who has the same problem with color co-ordination, I find it funny that my beautiful girl is having to adjust to the same problem. It gets to be less of a problem each year until you realize it really doesn’t matter in the overall scheme of things. I really like the T-shirt .

Thanks grandma ;) I bought him both the shorts AND the shirt, so I’ll gladly take credit for them ;) But I never meant for them to be worn together!

    They don’t match. :-)
I feel for you! Peter is generally pretty good about matching and will ask, about brown, black blue, with references to his shoes or belt… not that he is a fashion icon, just so he looks ok.
Of course he asks now after years back when he wore this totally “brown” outfit… brown dickies pants of some sort with a top that matched… and of all things SOLID NAVY BLUE OLD MAN LEATHER NEW BALANCE. Totally didn’t look right.. and I nagged him to no end about it.., course he wore the combo a few times before he “came around.”
UGH! I didn’t like the shoes anyway, but geez can you at least wear them when they will match your clothes????
    My Two Cents…
    :-)

LOL, kc, I figured I wouldn’t be alone on this one!! I’ve thought about starting a support group — partners of the color confused & fashion bereft. Glad to know that they do “come around” eventually (although it will be a miracle when Tony cares enough to ask for my help!!)

  7. […] Remember Tony’s favorite brown t-shirt? The one that does NOT match his grey plaid shorts?  The one that instigated this post? […]

  8. […] But look, I spotted Tony’s clone! […]
