Ever wonder why our water smells so strongly of chlorine? I always have.

It turns out there are several reasons for the high clorine content. We get our water from surface sources (lakes) which have a higher organic matter content than well sources (think fish poop). Also, the extreme Phoenix HEAT encourages the growth of little beasties and speeds up the evaporation of the chlorine, so we have to add more to disinfect and compensate for the evaporation.

Sometimes I do pick up useful information in my classes…
