My New Kitchen Toy!

Hello, my name is Heather and I am a Le Creuset addict. Check out my gorgeous new Le Creuset Cast Iron Grill Pan:

Thanks to my lovely aunt & uncle for helping me finance this with the Williams & Sonoma gift card from last Christmas (yes, LAST Christmas, as in 2007…I just got around to using it now!).

I can now make seared steaks without needing a fancy outdoor grill! I’m stoked! I literally cook on my George Foreman nearly everyday, but there are some things that are just too classy for the GF. I can now be the girl who doesn’t rely on the boy to cook the steaks. Sweet.

The above photo is of a buffalo steak that I marinated in red wine and some French herbs. It came out quite tasty, especially considering buffalo can be quite bland and dry. I followed a procedure for cooking the steak that I found on the comments section of a My Money Blog post, of all places:

The procedure for getting delicious raw steaks is approximately this: preheat the skillet, preheat oven to 380F, grill steaks for about 3 minutes on each side, take them off the skillet (it’s too hot for the next step), put steaks into the oven for another three minutes. Steak must be 1.5-2″ thick.

The steak came out wonderfully seared and juicy and pink in the center, just the way I like it….the kind of steak that would send my stepmom and sister into hysterics before forcing my dad to put it back on the grill and charcoal it to smithereens.  Hehe.
