(With the potential of earning $125 more through referrals)

Need to hop on this deal quick before it expires at the end of the month (9/30/07).

Chase Bank is offering a $100 bonus for opening a “Free Checking” account with direct deposit. Here is the link that generates unique coupon codes (just print out and take into the bank with you):
$100 Bonus

What makes this deal even sweeter is the $25 you can get if you are referred by a friend — “Simply refer a friend to open a Chase Free Checking account with Direct Deposit and you’ll both receive $25.” That’s $25 for me and $25 for you when you sign up! This requires a one-time use coupon which is stackable with the $100 coupon.

>>>Please message me if you would like me to email you a scanned pdf of the $25 referral coupon with my unique code on it.<<<

That’s a total sign-up bonus of $125 for opening a new checking account! Plus, you can refer up to FIVE people for an extra $125!!

Selected fine print below…

Offer valid 7/01/07 through 9/30/07. Chase Free CheckingSM requires a $100 minimum opening deposit of new money…Chase Free Checking has no monthly service fee when you have a monthly direct deposit. Limit one personal checking account-related reward/premium per customer, per calendar year…The $100 reward will be deposited into your new account within 6–8 weeks after the initial direct deposit and is not considered part of the minimum opening balance. Checking account must remain open for a minimum of six months or the reward will be debited from the account at closing.

I just signed up for an account today. It was a fairly easy procedure, took me about 20 minutes total. They took both coupons, and since my place of employment (ASU) is on their special list I was automatically upgraded to a Chase at Work Checking account. It’s basically the same as their Free Checking Account, except you get 50 free checks and it earns interest when balance is $2500 or greater. If you sign up for the regular checking make sure to decline any offer of checks or you will be charged for them.

Not bad, but opening bank accounts and closing them is a pain in the put and can hurt your credit. But $125 isnt bad. 2 years ago I got a $100 and a ipod for opening 2 bank accounts at case at the same time. Pluss the money is considered profit and highly taxable.

Yeah, I’ve opened several bank accounts within the past year for sign-up bonus purposes only. Last year was the $100 with Bank of America and $150 with NetBank. I just finished closing them all (and was enjoying having one consolidated bank account at last..) This is the best deal by far — since you have the opportunity to earn a TOTAL of $250, with a minimum of $125.

It’s barely any time to open and close though. I spent maybe 20 minutes opening it. And closing it will be another 20 minutes (that’s all it took with Bank of America too). Very simple, for the B&M banks. Online accounts are more of a pain in the rear to close sometimes.

Yes, it can affect your credit. This is the only deterrent, imo… Depends on whether they do a hard or soft pull. If they do a hard pull, it dings your credit a couple points for 6 months. Bank of America did a hard pull, and it showed up on my credit report…didn’t affect my score too much though. I think that anything over $100 is worth the credit pull…especially when you don’t plan on buying a house or car in the next 6 months.

And yes, they do send you a 1099-NT. So really only $75 of every $100 is actual income…but it was money you didn’t have in the first place ;)
