Albertson’s was the last to jump on the customer card bandwagon (as recently as 2003), and they’re the first to jump off.  From what I was told by a friendly cashier, they weren’t even collecting information from the cards, so it was just an unnecessary hassle for everyone involved.  As of this week, the sales prices will be automatic for everyone that shops at the store. No card necessary. What’s more, you get a coupon for $2 off your order for every Preferred Savings Card you turn in. I still have all three of my original cards, so that’s an extra $6 worth of groceries for me!! Also, if you turn in competitor customer cards (Bashas’, Fry’s, Safeway), you also receive $2 off your order.  So if you have extra cards lying around, you can really rack up the savings.
