Spring Grades

I finally had enough courage to check my final grades for the spring semester. I had a very rough time of it, and was pushed past my breaking point several times. But it didn’t end too badly — I received an A in Semiconductor Material Processing (my papers and final exam grade really must have helped this one out) and a B+ in Transport.  And satisfactory in the other courses. Yes, that is my first B since freshman year. Transport has ALWAYS been my weak spot and this class was no exception. I’ve gone from an A in undergrad transport to an A- at NCSU transport to a B+ at ASU grad transport. Thank goodness I don’t have to take anymore transport, or I’d barely pass! (FYI — Anything below a B is not passing in graduate school.)

My semiconductor class was taught by Dr. Dory from Intel. It was a night course, so he was able to teach after working all day long in the fab. Now I can honestly say I am familiar with every process, from beginning to end in chip manufacturing. I should make an even better Intel employee should I ever want to go back :P I must say, that many of the students were full-time employees at semiconductor companies, getting their part-time masters or whatnot, so they were much more knowledgeable about everything. I was only familiar with the packaging technology, which comprised, oh maybe 5% of the course. It was tough. But I got through it.

I have yet to figure out how many more class requirements I have left exactly, but I know it isn’t that many. Which is good. I want to do research and get out of here!
