Just finished calculating my first quarterly installment of my 2007 estimated taxes. Just wrote a check to the Feds for $663. I hate doing that.

The good news is that I found out I don’t have to make estimated tax payments to the Arizona Department of Revenue. You are REQUIRED to make Arizona estimated tax payments if your AGI is over $75,000. Ha, I’m under that by a long shot, which means I can pay all my Arizona taxes in one big lump sum next January. That means my money gets to sit in my bank account longer, collecting interest. Of course, I could make voluntary estimated tax payments if I wanted to — ha, but why would I want to do that?

April is a lovely month. Not only is my first estimated tax payment due, but my vehicle registration is also up for renewal. So I just forked over 36 big ones to the MVD. I’d renew for two years, and save a lot of money, but I just can’t be too sure how long Mr. Tan Monkey will last.

Now that Arizona’s motor vehicle department has combined your address for all services (license, registration, etc), they make it impossible to file your registration at an address different than your license. Why would I want to do that? Hmmm, let’s just say Yavapai County (Camp Verde) doesn’t require emissions testing, and Maricopa County does. But I got around that. Cuz I’m smart. No emissions testing for me :)
